Cerbera alternative parts cross-reference

This page collates alternative part numbers that owners have found to fit the TVR Cerbera (AJP V8 4.2/4.5 and Speed Six). Because TVR sourced many components from mainstream manufacturers, donor parts from Ford, Vauxhall, Rover, Land Rover, Saab, Jaguar, VW/Audi and others are often a cheaper and more available alternative to buying through a TVR specialist.

These are owner-reported fits drawn from years of Cerbera forum discussion. Always verify the part on the bench against the one you are replacing before fitting, and for anything safety-critical (brakes, fuel, steering, suspension) confirm dimensions, materials and ratings are equivalent to the original.

When replacing the fuel filter, the retaining bolt is usually corroded — have an M8 × 50 mm stainless bolt, two M8 stainless washers and an M8 Nyloc nut ready before you start.

Front calliper has four pistons (2 × 1 5/8” and 2 × 1 1/5”); rear has two 1 1/5” pistons. Each piston needs two seals; a seal kit covers one calliper.

The correct Cerbera wiper motor is a Lucas 60027021A, a 29 W unit also fitted to the Jaguar XJ6/XJ12 — it bolts straight on, gearbox and all. The internal park switch is from a 14 W motor (Austin Mini / Land Rover Defender Series 2a/3, part 520160), which is why it is the weak point — it is running on a 29 W motor’s current. A Mk V Mini 14 W motor will work with its own gearbox but sweeps only 110° vs the Cerbera’s 170°.

The originals have additional wing/keying features on the sides, so you will need to file a slot in the replacement housings so the locking wings on the harness side seat correctly.

Alarm fob (Meta / Abacus):

  1. Arm and disarm the alarm sixteen times, or until it stops responding — it is now in programming mode.
  2. Press the button on each new remote, then press the button on each original remote. Each action must be within 8 seconds of the last, or the alarm drops out of programming.
  3. Wait 8 seconds to exit learning mode.
  4. Test all remotes.

Immobiliser key (plinker):

  1. Insert the original plinker into the receiver hole.
  2. Switch ignition to ACC.
  3. Wait four seconds.
  4. Switch ignition off.
  5. Insert the new plinker and hold it in for two seconds.

The M36 immobiliser has five programming slots: two for the originally programmed keys, one for the optional alarm interface, leaving two free. Once those are full, the immobiliser must be reprogrammed by a specialist.
